How we handled

your data?

CapWords does not store any user-captured photos. When a user takes a photo, the image is temporarily transmitted to a third-party AI model for one-time recognition. It is immediately discarded after processing — not saved locally on the device, and not uploaded to any CapWords server (as CapWords does not operate any servers).

CapWords currently uses Apple’s native system-level capabilities, including:


  • AVSpeechSynthesizer:
    for high-quality speech playback (with Neural Voice support)

  • VisionKit and AVFoundation: for image capture and background removal

  • CloudKit: for syncing users’ review progress and image-based content between iPhone and iPad

  • Speech and SFSpeechRecognizer: for voice recognition functionality

I had a similar idea in the past, but I didn't know how to create an app, so I let it go. I'm so happy to see someone else bring it to life! I downloaded it and immediately supported it! The interface is clean and beautiful, easy on the eyes. (Just a couple of suggestions: 1. The current voice for word pronunciation sounds a bit robotic; could you consider using a real voice or a more natural-sounding model? 2. It would be nice to have more icon styles for personalization, allowing users to choose. Thank you, developer!
